First Impressions: OnePlus Buds 4 Earbuds Review After Hands-On Use

The OnePlus Buds 4 were launched in India on 8th July 2025, parallel with smartphones OnePlus Nord 5 and OnePlus Nord CE5. As soon as I saw the announcement, I was excited to try them. After using them for 2 full days, I’m here to give you my honest OnePlus Buds 4 Earbuds Review based on real-world testing.

This is not just a specs breakdown – it’s a full experience-based post. In this OnePlus Buds 4 Earbuds Review, I’ll talk about how they perform in sound, ANC, battery, comfort, and daily use. If you’re looking for TWS earbuds under ₹6000, and want real feedback, this is for you.

From the glossy shine to sound quality and ANC performance, I used them at home, market, and even in a noisy cricket ground to test everything. So let’s dive into this two minute OnePlus Buds 4 Earbuds Review.

Premium Feel with Comfortable Fit

You’ll instantly enjoy the design of the OnePlus Buds 4 – it’s truly eye-catching and premium. They have a glossy shine and a smooth premium touch, which makes them look stylish and expensive. The case is compact and lightweight – it easily fits in my pocket without creating a bulky shape.

There’s an LED indicator and a manual pairing button on the side of the case, which adds to its usability. The earbuds sit comfortably in the ear, even during long use.

Unique and Smart Features

One interesting feature is the ability to double-tap the buds to click photos when your phone’s camera is open.

Slide-to-Control Volume

These wireless earphones come with touch-sensitive controls, and one feature I found genuinely smooth was the volume adjustment. You have to simply slide your finger on the bud to manage volume control, instead of tapping.  It’s quick, responsive, and works well even when you’re on the move. While this feature is available on many earbuds nowadays, the implementation here feels more fluid and natural, especially during workouts or calls.

Excellent Sound Quality with Dual Drivers

Let’s talk about the sound. The Buds 4 has 11mm woofer with 6mm tweeter in each earbud, it comes with dual driver unit. The audio output is rich, clear, and enjoyable. The BassWave 2.0 enhancement gives it a deep, punchy bass without losing clarity in vocals or highs.

I used them mostly on AAC and LHDC codec, and the difference was noticeable. The LHDC 5.0 with 1 Mbps at 24bit/192kHz really shines when listening to high-res music. If you enjoy spatial audio, it’s also supported and adds to the immersive sound experience.

If you’ve tried Buds 3 of the OnePlus, you’ll observe an advancement in balance and clarity. These are truly one of the best earbuds under ₹6000 in terms of sound performance.

Adaptive Noise Cancellation Up to 55dB

I tested the Adaptive mode in a high-noise environment. I turned my TV volume up and also visited a nearby cricket ground. The ANC was very potent in closing out ambient noise. It’s rated up to 55dB within a 5,500Hz bandwidth, and honestly, it felt quite close to that level.

There is a  remarkably improved ANC in Buds 4 from Buds 3. You can feel the difference when switching between ANC On and Off – voices, wind, and chatter all get reduced.

Talking Over Noise? These Buds Handle It Well

Calling performance is another area where OnePlus has done well. The 3-mic AI Call Noise Cancellation works effectively. I tried calls indoors and outdoors, and in both cases, the other person could hear me clearly without background disturbances.

For meetings, gaming, and regular calls, these earbuds are a solid choice.

Battery That Matches the Hype

Battery  life is one of those things that really matters, but OnePlus seems to have done a great job with these TWS earbuds. As per company claims (tested at 50% volume), here’s the expected battery life:

ANC Off:
  • The earbuds can deliver up to 11 hours of listening time using AAC, and around 9 hours with LHDC
  • When paired with the charging case, the total playback time extends to about 45 hours (AAC).
ANC On:
  • Buds are expected to last around 6 hours on AAC
  • With the case, total playback goes up to 24 hours (AAC)

In my personal testing, the battery life was very close to these figures, which is rare. Depending on volume levels, ANC use, and call time, the performance may slightly vary — but overall, I found it reliable and consistent.

You also get Fast Charging, and to test that, I purposely put them the case on charge when they were at just 10% battery. After exactly 10 minutes, the battery level jumped to around 38%, which confirms that OnePlus’s claim of “11 hours playback from a 10-minute charge” is quite accurate. It’s a handy feature if you’re in a rush and need quick juice before heading out.

OnePlus has clearly optimized the power efficiency in these wireless earphones. Even with features like ANC and spatial audio, the battery holds up very well.

Connectivity and Compatibility

The Bluetooth 5.4 connection is strong and stable. During my testing, I didn’t face any dropouts or lags. OnePlus claims a range of up to 250 meters, and while I didn’t test it end-to-end, I did keep my phone inside my gym bag during a workout, and the buds stayed connected without any issues. Features like Google Fast Pair and Dual-Device Connection also worked smoothly and made switching between devices effortless.

If you’re using a OnePlus phone with Oxygen OS 15.0.0+, you also get Steady Connect support, which enhances connectivity further. I tested these earbuds with both a OnePlus Nord 5 and a Samsung phone – they performed well on both.
